The Ancient Order of United Workmen is a fraternal life insurance society. The Grand Lodge of Montana was formed in 1890. Records consist of the national and state constitutions (n.d.); local lodge minute books (1885, 1883-1886, 1903) for Boulder, Glendale, and Elkhorn lodges; a "Register Grand Medical Examiner Montana Jurisdiction," (1900-1906); and other records. Records consist of the national and state constitutions (n.d.); local lodge minute books (1885, 1883-1886, 1903) for the Centennial Lodge at Boulder, Montana, the Hecla Lodge at Glendale, and the Elkhorn Lodge at Elkhorn, Montana; a "Register Grand Medical Examiner Montana Jurisdiction," (1900-1906) that provides name, date of birth, and nativity of each applicant for membership statewide (arranged by local lodge and shelved on oversize shelf); lists (1894, n.d.) of suspended members; a list (March 1894) of members taking Workman Degree; beneficiary reports (1894-1895); and miscellaneous lodge materials of D.P. Cotter of Butte.
